Highly Recommended!!!
Living in a studio apartment in Chelsea, recently had a major leak from the cold water pipe underneath my sink/faucet in my kitchen.
I contacted my insurance adjuster from Chubb.
He scheduled a visit and showed up with a contractor.
They offered to repair and replace the cabinetry box and to replace the door. They said that they will contact me with a date for the repair/replace.
I waited 3 weeks and no one contacted me, I called my insurance adjuster and he said that they are too busy and offered to settle for 18k for repairing the damages.
I agreed and received the settlement check in the mail.
That is when this story takes a turn.
Instead of repairing the damages I was considering to renovate my kitchen completely with an 80k budget.
I checked out a few companies and scheduled appointments. I got 4 estimates before I met Perry Hiiman from NYTDR (New York Total Damage Restoration).
The minute Perry walked into my apartment I had a gut feeling he will be the one that I will hire to do my renovation. Not in a million years did I think that I will get what I got.
Here’s why:
He looked around checked everything, removed my toe-kick, checked the wood floors asked me a bunch of questions about the claim and then he wanted to sit down and talk.
In the beginning I was extremely skeptical…he said that if I hired him and his company and paid him $7,500.00 design retainer to act as “Owner’s Representative” and handle the insurance claim on my behalf, he will be able to get me over 160k enough to cover to renovate my kitchen, replace my wood floors and paint the entire apartment. He also said that if the insurance company pays me he will deduct the $7,500 retainer from the overall project and if not I will get a full refund.
At first I thought Perry is delusional and it must be a scam, when he explained the process in detail, I felt assured that everything he is said sounded transparent. I told him that I will be in touch in the coming week.
I thought about it, read some reviews on-line and reached out to Perry. I asked him to meet with me again in my apartment and to bring the insurance retainer agreement with him.
I read the agreement and Perry went over it with me and it was very clearly stated that if I don’t get at minimum 160k he will give me a full refund. It also stated that when I receive the 160k settlement Money I will hire him and his company to do the entire renovation.
I signed the agreement and wrote a letter to my adjustor as per Perry’s instructions and then Perry started to handle my claim.
At this point since I already received 18k, my insurance adjuster wanted to come again to do another walkthrough with Perry and Chubb contractor.
After one month of going back and forth Perry negotiated a settlement for….. $220,000….yes…… Thanks to Perry I ended up replacing my entire kitchen (With a Sub-Zero refrigerator-score-), replaced my wood floors, baseboard molding and painted my entire apartment.
Didn’t spend a penny out of pocket.
This was a breath of fresh air….wow.
Thank you Perry, the entire NYTDR design and field team. A special thanks goes to Tracie, who was extremely helpful in getting the building approval started in a timely manner.
Perry you are my hero for life. I will recommend you and your firm to anyone that visits my apartment or asks about my experience!!!
I highly recommend Perry as a contractor for a renovation. I came across NYKB when I was starting the process of replacing my floors after I sustained water damage from an upstairs neighbor. I wanted someone who could properly restore the damage while also helping me navigate the insurance and make the best of the situation.
From the get go, Perry was heavily involved. He essentially took over all negotiations with my insurance and adjusters to insure I was awarded the appropriate amount of money from my insurance. He’s an expert dealing with the various companies and all the stunts they try to pull(and believe me, they tried to pull a few stunts). He also helped us maximize our cost of living reimbursement while we were displaced from our home during the reno process. When it came time to moving forward with the renovations, Perry’s team was very professional and organized when it came to coordinating with my condo board, which can be very strict/stringent.
They took care of all of that for us. Most importantly, we were very impressed with the quality of Perry’s work… top notch. His team of workers cleaned up after every day of work, not leaving garbage or trash all over the work site. We met with him at his Manhattan studio to look at various flooring, countertops, etc. When we were looking for very specific styles, he went above and beyond to let us order samples and try to get the look we were going for. The team on the job worked very hard and paid good attention to detail.
They got all of the work done in a timeline manner. I’m certain if I embarked on this restoration project on my own, I would have received only a fraction of what I did and would not have had the same outcome. To be honest I wasn’t sure if Perry was too good to be true when we first met, but he delivered. I’d recommend him to any close friends or family members in this same situation. Thank you Perry!
We had flood damage in our apartment and were having a hard time getting proper help from insurance. We found Perry and his team through a desperate google search and they quickly stepped in and assisted us with assessing the extent of the damage, making a plan, communicating with insurance adjusters, and finally getting all the damages repaired. Perry and Troy and Karina were so helpful and supportive and lifted an enormous weight from our shoulders. The repair work was done quickly and beautifully and in the end our apartment looked better than ever. It was a silver lining to a long and horrible experience. They also helped us complete some additional tasks and everything was done perfectly. Thank you Perry and all of NYTDR!
Perry and his team did a beautiful job on a full kitchen and bathroom remodel in our West Village condo. From start to finish, the project was handled with professionalism, care, and an impressive attention to detail. The final results are stunning—everything came out even better than we had hoped.
When unexpected plumbing issues came up behind the walls, Perry personally stepped in to find a solution. He was fair, transparent, and truly went the extra mile to make sure we felt taken care of. His honesty and dedication stood out and made a big difference in the overall experience.
Throughout the process, Perry’s team was responsive, organized, and clearly committed to delivering high-quality work. Under his leadership, everything ran smoothly.
We’re so glad we chose to work with Perry. His integrity and hands-on approach gave us complete confidence from beginning to end.
Our home had significant flood damage in July of last year. We decided to meet with three contractors who could help us assess the impact and advise on next steps regarding insurance.
The first two told us the same thing. They explained that while the damage looked and felt significant, no insurance company would ever agree to pay enough to hit our very high deductible. They said that taking our job would be a waste of their time and ours.
Because of this we were pessimistic when going into the conversation with the third contractor, Perry from NYTDR. But his attitude was different from the first two companies. After he assessed the damage, he told us he would help us get the coverage we deserved.
He helped us negotiate with the insurance company until they rightly agreed to cover more than double our deductible, which paid for everything that we needed to do to get our home to shine like it did before the flood.
We were thrilled! We began the work, and we were ready to close this otherwise traumatic chapter of our lives… but at the start of September we flooded again. And this time it was worse.
Insurance refused to play ball, but Perry helped us work with them until we got what we deserved. It took a lot of patience as this process lasted a few months, but Perry never let us give up. In the end, we were able to settle with the insurance company at a price that covered all of what we needed
The work that NYTDR did was beautiful. Steve and his team paid attention to every single detail – the craftsmanship is remarkable. Our house feels like a home again and I know that it wouldn’t have happened without NYTDR.
Throughout the process everyone at NYTDR was responsive and professional. They hit deadlines and sat through countless conference calls and adjuster meetings. They worked with us to solve any problem until we were satisfied.
